Equipment We Use
Our mission is to make sure we always provide your furry loved one with the right diagnosis to help them get the treatments they need. Once we know what we are treating, our facility has everything necessary to perform surgery, treat with medication.
Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic offers diagnostic and imaging services that include:
Lab services: Making the right treatment choices for your pet starts with knowing what’s happening. At Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic, we have an on-site laboratory to quickly analyze tissue samples and better understand exactly what is happening to your pet. These tests are crucial to an accurate diagnosis. However, most veterinary clinics don’t have them on-site, meaning results can take days to obtain.
Our veterinarians use blood tests and other laboratory work to better assess your pet’s health. These blood tests give us a baseline of what is normal for your pet. Blood tests are very valuable in the early detection of diseases. Studies have shown that 25 percent of dogs and cats over the age of 10 have a treatable disease that is not causing symptoms.
Other tests we offer include:
- Urine and fecal tests
- Cytology tests
- Virus tests
- Parasite screenings
Radiology: At Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic, we administer x-rays when we feel they can help us diagnose a potential illness or injury your pet is experiencing. We can take radiographs of the skeletal system, spine, heart and lungs, abdomen, and skull.
The x-ray itself is quick and painless. Your pet will not need to be anesthetized unless they are particularly afraid and/or unable to remain still. We take great care to ensure that your pet feels calm and relaxed throughout the process.
Once testing is complete, our veterinary team will review the results and make a diagnosis. The entire process takes place in-house in our state-of-the-art facilities. Depending on our diagnosis, we’ll recommend the right treatment option and advise you accordingly of how best to proceed.
Ultrasound: Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic uses ultrasound technology to detect problems in your pet’s abdomen. Ultrasound is a painless, safe, and non-invasive method of evaluating the liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder, stomach, and intestinal tract.
Ultrasonography is a simple tool that can help us make an accurate diagnosis for your pet. The reflections of soundwaves create images of the inside of your pet’s body. Our pet ultrasound technicians in Pittsburg can then assess the images and look for any irregularities.
We may recommend an ultrasound if your pet is exhibiting symptoms such as:
- Vomiting
- Kidney problems
- Heart disease
- Weight loss
- Change in appetite
Focus on Comfort
We know most pets aren’t thrilled to make a trip to the vet. That’s why our team goes out of our way to make sure he or she feels safe and comfortable throughout their visit. If the imaging results mean your pet needs a surgery or more serious procedure, we offer in-patient care with cozy accommodations and attentive care. Your pet’s health and overall comfort is our highest priority.
